Death Knight: Introduction
Monday, 21 July 2008 19:37

The Death Knight is the first hero class in World of Warcraft, and is available to players if you have a level 55 or higher character on your account; but restricted to only one per realm. All Death Knights will start at level 55 in Acherus: The Ebon Hold, a new necropolis overlooking Eastern Plaguelands - and follow a scripted number of quests until level 58 to learn the class and the lore.

The Death Knight will start with multiple spells and abilities ready to use as well as an uncommon quality set of gear, four 12 slot bags, 270 First Aid Skill and Expert Riding Skill. There is also Undying Resolve, a zonewide buff that will have a Val'kyr Battle-maiden resurrect you every 10 minutes in case you die to help with the learning curve. Along with some very unique quests and custom speech to drive the Death Knight story line, you have what is arguably the best starting zone for any class.

The Introduction

The Death Knight zone features a lot of new innovations - from zone wide changes to interactive enviorments/NPC's to flying mount battles the Death Knight starting zone is fresh and exciting for the veteran Warcraft player. This guide will take you from start to finish of the current beta build 3.0.1 (8681) - since all of the quests chains appear to be implimented hopefully the final build should be similar to the current beta build and this guide will be updated accordingly to match the final build when the game is released.

blood is a dps and unholy is a dps too but they can be used together to provide
about 3000+ dps

Frost is probably the best spec for tanking, and unholy can also work. Blood is
really more centered around DPS. Unholy=Tank or DPS, Frost=Tank, Blood=DPS

Unholy is an AoE tank. Stop just reiterating what you hear on the WoW forums-
that frost is the only tanking specc. Frost might be necessary, but only in
25man raids post-malygos.

What Blizzard is trying to do with DKs is make them be able to tank in any spec.
Blood concentrates primarily on self healing, Frost on mitigation and control,
and Unholy on Disease and Resistance to Magic. All can make viable tanking specs
depending on how you spend you're talent points, because they all offer talents
all tanks absolutely need. For instance, Blood has RP per 5 seconds and Parry
rating when no Blood runes are active, Frost increased armor, and Unholy
increased dodge (and fyi these talents are in the first tier of their respective
trees). Make you're build more about play style then "this tree means you're
a tank."

both blood and unholy are dps specs. Unholy is more disease dps where as blood
is melee. The tanking spec for death knights is FROST.
