The Violet Hold is a non-moving instance similar to that of Black Morass. Located in Dalaran, the Violet Hold consists of 18 "waves" of enemies - with a boss every 6 waves. The first 2 bosses that appear are randomly selected from a list of 6 possible bosses. The final boss, however, is always Cyanigosa.

The Violet Hold: One Room for 30 Minuites Weeee...

There is one quest for this isntance - Discretion is Key - which you obtain in Dalaran from Rhonin, Leader of the Kirin Tor. Turn this quest in inside the instance before starting the event to get Containment.
